The only item on today’s program for the Capitulars was to participate in the 10:30 a.m. Mass in the Upper Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. 

The presider was the new­ly elect­ed Min­is­ter Gen­er­al, Fri­ar Car­los TROVARELLI. Many faith­ful attend­ed. The homi­ly was deliv­ered in two parts. In the first part, Fri­ar Jude WINKLER invit­ed every­one to pray for the new­ly elect­ed Min­is­ter Gen­er­al as well as for those who will be serv­ing the Order as his col­lab­o­ra­tors. He next offered some com­men­tary on the sec­ond read­ing from the Book of Rev­e­la­tion, which describes a New Jerusalem com­ing down out of heav­en from God. We are to under­stand this real­i­ty in the sense of our expe­ri­enc­ing the joy of par­adise, where we will be in com­mu­nion with God and our broth­ers. We can also under­stand it in the sense of our per­son­al com­mit­ment, today, to build fra­ter­ni­ty here on earth.
In the sec­ond part, Fri­ar Car­los spoke and thanked every­body, in par­tic­u­lar, the May­or of Assisi, Mrs. Ste­fa­nia PROIETTI. He invit­ed every­one to believe firm­ly that Christ is present in our midst. He then asked all the con­fr­eres to make them­selves avail­able to col­lab­o­rate with him and to be obe­di­ent to the will of the Eter­nal Father.
After the Mass, a group pho­to was tak­en of all the Capit­u­lars stand­ing in the Six­tus IV court­yard. After­wards, the Capit­u­lars sat down to lunch pro­vid­ed by Fri­ar Mau­ro GAMBETTI, the Guardian of the Sacred Convent.
