May 30 – Election of the General Definitory

Having completed the discussion on the juridical questions regarding the role of the Assistants General in the last few days, this morning saw the election of the friars that are to be at Fr. Marco Tasca’s side so as to guide our Religious family for the next six-year term.  Before the voting began, the Minister General addressed the capitulars with words of gratitude for Fr. Joachim Giermek and for all the Assistants who helped the government of the Order in the last six-year term.  This was followed by a long and heartfelt applause.

Following the changes introduced to our legislation regarding voting, the first election was that of the Vicar General, who for the first time was elected directly by the Capitulars  by written ballot.  Fr. Jerzy NOREL (curriculum), of the St. Maximilian Kolbe Province of Gdansk (Danzig, Poland) was elected, who had been up to now the Assistant General for the CEO.

Voting for the Assistants proposed to the Minister General then followed, all of whom were elected in the first ballot in this Order (click on their names to read a brief curriculum):

fr. Vincenzo MARCOLI (Secretary General)
fr. John-Joseph DOLAN (Assistant General CAA)
fr. Tadeusz ŚWIĄTKOWSKI (Assistant General AFCOF)

fr. Eugenio KAWASHIMO (Assistant General FAAMC)
fr. Miljenko HONTIĆ (Assistant General CEC)
